Friday Sync-Up: Ransomware is REvil

Every Friday, I present a topic or question for our merry band of thinkers, leaders, and pirates to discuss in an open thread. Here is this week’s conversation starter:

Well, here we are again. The Russia-based REvil ransomware group has hijacked the information of thousands of companies around the world and is demanding $70 million for its release. This, of course, follows a meeting between President Biden and Russian President Putin in Geneva, where the U.S. made strong statements about holding Moscow accountable if it did not get hackers within its borders under control.
